High School Boys Team

Team Profile:

The Boys’ varsity tennis team is typically made of the top 10-14 players. JV Red team has players numbered 15-31 and JV Blue 32-50. Players are placed on a skill/experience ladder by the coaching staff and will move up or down as a result of challenge and competitive matches as well as availability and coaches’ discretion. Freshmen can play varsity if able to defeat other team members. Varsity line-ups are usually frozen after May 1st to allow for advantageous tournament seeding.

2016 Varsity results:

Dual matches 19 Wins and 7 losses

1st Place Appleton North Invitational

2nd place in FRCC conference

1st place WIAA sub-sectionals

1st place WIAA sectionals

2 singles players and 1 doubles team qualify for WIAA Individual State Championships

WIAA Tennis Team State Qualifier (lost to Middleton in round 1)

2017 Season Preview:

With a similar large schedule to 2016 and with the loss of 5 seniors as well as #2 singles player, Benny Glezer, the 2017 Redbird Boys tennis team will be athletic but inexperienced. Players and coaches alike will have to concentrate on improving during the offseason as well as week to week once play begins. Having few seniors in 2017 will be offset with strong junior and sophomore classes, as well as several talented freshmen.

Practice:

Everyday Monday through Friday through out the season unless there is a home match scheduled.
Times: 3:30-5:30 PM

Some players may practice/play matches at Legion Park.
