Middle School and 10 & Under Tennis
MIDDLE SCHOOL CO-ED TEAM
The De Pere Redbirds Middle School tennis program focuses on learning the lifelong game of tennis while having fun and being social. Winning and keeping our team scores are secondary to the middle school program when compared to learning the basic strokes, staying fit and good sportsmanship.
Currently offered for children in the De Pere school district from fifth through eighth grade. The season usually begins in April and ends in mid-May, as it is only a six-week season. Practices and matches are coordinated with high school coaches as the MS team also uses the high school tennis courts.
Volunteer coaches, John Zellner and Renee Butrym, along with some volunteer parents run approximately six practices and 10 matches with other area middle school’s teams for student-athletes of all skill levels. The last few years have averaged 40 players on the De Pere MS tennis team.
Players of all skill levels welcome!

10 AND UNDER TENNIS
The city of De Pere Park and Recreation Dept. has begun offering inexpensive tennis lessons for children ages 10 & Under on Friday mornings from June to August at Legion Park. This follows the current United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) recommendation of using smaller racquets, shorter courts and low compression tennis balls while first learning to play. All equipment is provided to allow your son or daughter to learn and enjoy the lifetime sport of tennis.
Registering for these classes can be done on-line or at the Park & Recreation Dept. at 925 South 6th Street in De Pere. 920-339-4057 or visit their website.
