The De Pere Redbirds Middle School tennis program focuses on learning the lifelong game of tennis while having fun and being social. Winning and keeping our team scores are secondary to the middle school program when compared to learning the basic strokes, staying fit and good sportsmanship.
Tennis offers a unique social aspect by allowing your child to play independently or with a partner. Singles play requires calculation, and self-determination. Doubles play does too, however they must also constantly coordinate physically and verbally with their teammate. In both cases, they are still part of a team. Not all sports can say that!
While some sports might have your child parked on a bench or kicking dirt out in the field, tennis will keep them moving for the entire match. Tennis matches involve just two or four players at a time, so your child will have to constantly move to ensure their success. Whether in game play or during practice, they will be sure to get a workout.
When your child learns to play tennis, they are learning a sport for life! Some sports are not as easy to continue after high school or college. They can either be too high-impact or may require a big team to gather in order play. Adult tennis is available in just about every community, and because it's low-impact, can often be enjoyed well into senior years.
De Pere Tennis believes that introducing the sport of tennis at a young age provides life-long benefits. Teamwork, strategic thinking, determination, and self-confidence are the foundation of successful professionals which in-turn supports a thriving community.
